On Friday, August 12, two people were killed and a third injured following a single vehicle crash.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Departement, the accident happened at around 8 a.m. on the Interstate 81, near the intersection of Maugans Avenue and Shawley Drive. A Nissan Versa was traveling south and exited the Interstate onto Maugans Avenue, hitting the median and flipping.
It is believed that the 74 year old driver, Doris Neely of Harrisburg, Pa. suffered a medical emergency and she was taken to Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, where she later died.
The front-seat passenger, 82 year old James Edward Ransome, of York, Pa., was pronounced dead at the scene, and the rear seat passenger, an unidentified 24 year old woman was also taken to Meritus Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. A dog which was also in the car was killed in the crash.
