On Saturday, December 26 a young woman was hit by a vehicle in the Royal Farms area.
According to authorities, the accident happened at approximately 6.15 a.m. near Dutchmans Lane, Easton, when 28 year old Ashley Nicole Neville, of Hagerstown was struck by a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu being driven by Tabitha Rebecca Taylor, also aged 28, of Annapolis.
Neville was walking in the travel portion of the roadway when she collided with the Taylor’s vehicle. She was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center and although the extent of her injuries are unknown; they are not thought to be life-threatening. Taylor was uninjured in the accident.
Traffic travelling westbound on Ocean Gateway between the south end of the bypass and Dutchmans Lane was diverted for approximately two hours while the accident was cleared.
Initial investigation has cleared Taylor of any blame and authorities are unsure as to why Neville was walking along the travel segment of the road. The incident remains under investigation
